St. John's Wort
This wonderful weed has always had an honored place in my garden because it always blooms on St John's Day, June 24th and it is beautiful. Often called the herbal Prozac it may be helpful for mild to moderate depression. Your ancestors steeped the leaves and, especially the flowers in alcohol or oil to make a healing solution. Try it, these yellow flowers turn red when steeped or bruised. Its wound healing ability can be attributed to its antifungal and significant antibacterial activity. Use sunblock when using this herb as it is photo-sensitive.
