The bark is the part used and it is very capable of alleviating pain and reducing fevers. It is our natural alternative to aspirin, in fact, the aspirin you buy at the drugstore was developed directly from white willow. The active ingredient is salicin. It has antiseptic qualitites so it is good in poultices. Good for fever, nerve pain, headaches, toothaches, & injuries.
